The Russian Federation launched a new air attack in Ukraine during the night from Thursday to Friday, near the Romanian border, and a drone entered Romanian airspace, the Ministry of National Defence reports on Friday.
According to the same source, the attack targeted civilian and infrastructure objectives in Ukraine, near the border, in the northern area of the Chilia branch.
The National Military Command Centre notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations in order to implement public warning measures in the northern part of Tulcea County, and a RO-ALERT message was sent to the population.
Air defence systems monitored two aerial targets operating in the border area. One of the targets entered Romanian airspace, with radar contact lost 16 km south-east of Chilia Veche, above an uninhabited area, the Ministry of National Defence states.
The air alert started at 12:43 am and ended at 02:48 am, and a team is prepared to depart this morning on a reconnaissance mission in the respective area, the source adds.
'We firmly condemn the actions of the Russian Federation, which endanger regional security and constitute a serious violation of international law,' the press release further reads.
