President Nicusor Dan declared on Thursday that in principle he wants a second term as head of state, noting, however, that the 2030 elections are not his concern at the moment.
"Now, in general terms, of course, in principle, I want a second term, because I understood at the City Hall what it means to build, but the obsession that - I saw this in the public space - everything I do at the moment is to have a second term, that is not true at all", Nicusor Dan told Europa FM.
He said that his priority is to, through this term, do "as well as possible" in Romania.
"What I want to say is that I understand the responsibility that this position gives me, we are going through a complicated period both internally and externally, and my priority is that, through this mandate, I do the best I can in Romania and after that we will see", the president said.
Asked if he does not believe that Ilie Bolojan's departure from the Victoria Palace will determine him to become his rival in the 2030 presidential elections, the president replied: "Again, the 2030 elections are not my concern at this moment. We will see in 2029 how, what will happen in Romania and all the rest".
