Romanian tennis player Sorana Cirstea, seed no. 2, will face Hungary's Anna Bondar in the quarterfinals of the WTA 250 tournament in Rouen (France), which offers total prize money of 246,388 euros, after the latter defeated Ukraine's Oleksandra Oliynikova on Thursday evening, 6-0, 4-6, 6-0.
Cirstea (36 years old, world no. 26) advanced to the quarterfinals after China's Xinyu Wang retired in the first set at 5-3.
The Romanian leads 2-0 in her head-to-head matches with Bondar (28 years old, world No. 64), having defeated her in 2019 in the first round in Budapest, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, and in 2022 in the quarter-finals in Lyon, 6-3, 6-3.
