InfoCons - the European Consumer Protection Organization - launches the ProEduHub project, an initiative dedicated to supporting young people from the Diaspora in accessing educational opportunities in Romania and facilitating their integration into the labor market.
"The project aims to contribute to strengthening the relationship between Romania and the Romanian communities abroad, institutional estimates indicating that between 5.7 and 6.5 million Romanians live in the Diaspora, which positions Romania among the states with the largest Diaspora in the European Union. In this context, the initiative aims to both reconnect young people with the Romanian educational system and promote it internationally," a release from the organization sent to AGERPRES on Friday reads.
ProEduHub is an education, information and awareness project on the importance of access to education and the role of higher and technical education in increasing the quality of life and professional development. The platform is intended especially for young Romanians born or raised in the Diaspora and aims to facilitate their access to universities in Romania, offering support in the information, orientation and registration process.
According to the cited source, the initiative comes in the context of relevant data at European level: the European Union's objective for 2030 provides that 45% of people aged between 25 and 34 should be higher education graduates. Currently, 13 Member States have reached or exceeded this threshold, but Romania is among the countries with the lowest share, with approximately 23%, compared to countries such as Ireland (63%), Cyprus (62%) or Luxembourg (60%). This difference highlights the need for concrete measures to increase access to university education, the press release states.
At the same time, at international level it is estimated that between 30,000 and 50,000 Romanian students study abroad, a significant part of whom choose to remain outside the country after completing their studies.
In this context, the ProEduHub project offers a concrete alternative for young people who want to reconnect with Romania, through access to study programs and professional integration opportunities.
Through the platform, young people will have access to: centralized information on the educational offer of universities in Romania; administrative support in the admission process; practical and internship opportunities in collaboration with economic operators in Romania; educational and professional guidance tools; private scholarship opportunities; technical education programs.
At the same time, the project responds to a real need identified at the level of Diaspora communities: the existence of a clear and predictable framework for returning to the country. For many young people, reintegration requires access to information, institutional support and concrete opportunities for professional development.
"The main goal of ProEduHub is to develop an integrated online platform, which will facilitate communication and collaboration between young people in the Diaspora, higher education institutions in Romania and the business milieu, thus contributing to the creation of a sustainable educational and professional ecosystem," the organization's representatives say.
Through this initiative, InfoCons reaffirms its commitment to supporting access to education, social inclusion and human capital development, contributing to the consolidation of a sustainable link between Romania and the new generations in the Diaspora.
The activities within the ProEduHub Project will take place at the InfoCons headquarters in Bucharest.
