President Nicusor Dan to meet NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte

President Nicusor Dan will have a meeting with Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Mark Rutte, at the NATO headquarters in Brussels on Thursday.

The two officials will subsequently hold a joint press conference.

According to the Presidential Administration, the agenda of the discussions will include security developments in the international environment and on the Eastern Flank, with a focus on the Black Sea region, in which context measures to strengthen deterrence and collective defence will be addressed, as well as ways to increase Romania's security through and with NATO's support.

The President of Romania will highlight the importance of the transatlantic relation, reaffirming the country's role as a strong ally involved in regional stability and security, the quoted source said.

President Nicusor Dan will also underline that Romania is honouring its commitments undertaken at the NATO Summit in The Hague regarding increased defence spending and will highlight multidimensional assistance for Ukraine. At the same time, the Romanian head of state will bring to mind the need to strengthen NATO support for partners, especially the Republic of Moldova, targeted by Russia's hybrid actions.
