ChemistryFEST - the fifth edition, one of the largest events dedicated to applications of chemistry, bioengineering and advanced materials in Romania, begins on Thursday on the campus of the Politehnica Bucharest National University of Science and Technology.

According to a press release the organisers sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday, for two days the university campus becomes an open space where science is demonstrated, explained and experienced directly by pupils, students and the general public.

'ChemistryFEST is more than a festival of spectacular experiments. It is an investment in the generation that will build the technological solutions of tomorrow's Romania. We need young people who are well trained in applied sciences, and our university is assuming the role of creating real bridges between education, research and industry. The future of innovation begins in the laboratory but continues in the economy,' said Politehnica Bucharest National University of Science and Technology rector Mihnea Costoiu.

The event brings together academics, researchers, companies from industry and thousands of young people interested in the fields underpinning the development of the modern economy: the pharmaceutical industry, smart materials, biotechnologies, energy, sustainability and new chemical technologies. The festival will feature demonstration experiments, interactive workshops, applied sessions, technology presentations and career guidance sessions.

A central element of the 2026 edition is the educational component: pupils can participate in practical demonstrations and laboratory tours, interact with professors and students and understand the academic path leading to careers in areas such as applied chemistry, bioengineering, materials science or nanotechnologies. At the same time, companies present at the event have the opportunity to engage directly with students interested in internships, placements and employment opportunities.

Access to the event is free of charge, and the full programme is available on the official ChemistryFEST platform: https://chemistryfest.upb.ro/.
