The Ministry of Finance drew on Tuesday 301.4 million lei from banks, in addition to Monday's tenders, when it borrowed over 2 billion lei, at interest rates of 6.22% per annum and 6.67% per annum, respectively, through two benchmark government bond issues.
The nominal value of the two additional issues was 211.4 million lei and 90.0 million lei, respectively. Banks submitted offers worth 462.4 million lei and 240.0 million lei, respectively.
The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has planned, for January 2026, loans from commercial banks worth 10 billion lei, to which 15%, respectively 1.2 billion lei, of the nominal value awarded at the reference tenders can be added, within the additional sessions of non-competitive offers organized exclusively for benchmark instruments.
The total amount, of 11.2 billion lei, is 6.025 billion lei higher than that which was scheduled in December 2025, of 5.175 billion lei, and will be intended for the refinancing and early repayment of public debt and financing the state budget deficit.
