The Minister of Internal Affairs, Catalin Predoiu, sent a letter of condolences to the Minister of Citizen Protection of the Hellenic Republic, Michalis Chrysochoidis, following the traffic accident that occurred on Tuesday on the national road DN 6, near Lugojel, which resulted in the death of seven Greek citizens, supporters of the PAOK Thessaloniki team.
In the message, Minister Predoiu expressed deep sadness and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families, as well as his solidarity with those affected and with the sports community of PAOK and Greece, a press release from the Ministry of Internal Affairs informs.
Minister Predoiu emphasized that sport must unite people and communities through passion, respect and friendship and showed that such tragedies are felt beyond borders. At the same time, he highlighted the close ties between Romania and Greece, strengthened by the presence of a Romanian citizen as head coach of the PAOK team.
In conclusion, the Minister of Internal Affairs addressed his Greek counterpart with all his consideration and conveyed, on behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, condolences and solidarity to the bereaved families and the sports community in Greece.
Seven Greek citizens, supporters of the PAOK team, lost their lives on Tuesday in a serious traffic accident, which occurred on DN 6, in Lugojel. They were traveling by minibus to Lyon, where their favorite team was playing.
According to the Timis Police, the man driving the minibus to Lugoj, at some point, crossed into the opposite direction and collided head-on with a long-haul truck.
