Policemen are monitoring, at the end of the New Year's miniholiday, especially roads from mountain resorts to Bucharest and other urban areas, A1, A2, and A3 highways, as well as the road sectors in the vicinity of border crossing points.
"Policemen are continuing actions to save lives, prevent grave road accidents and speeding at the end of the New Year's miniholiday. Under monitorization are, especially, roads from mountain resorts to Bucharest and other urban areas, A1, A2, and A3 highways, as well as the road sectors in the vicinity of border crossing points. Police officers recommend drivers also pick alternative routes given that traffic values can grow considerably in this period. The Romanian Police recommends drivers drive cautiously, without grabbing at the commands and to conduct all maneuvers after thorough ensurance. Avoid overtaking that, given heavy traffic, prove to be extremely dangerous," the Romanian Police General Inspectorate (IGPR) informed in a release remitted on Tuesday to AGERPRES.
Policemen recommend drivers use a lower speed, permanently adapted to the traffic conditions, especially when travelling in a column, and to increase the distance between vehicles.
"If traffic is heavy and road blockages start developing remain calm, do not jam intersections and do not attempt to overtake the vehicle column. Use emergency lights when you are last in a column that stops or slows suddenly. Use low beams during daytime, especially in severe weather conditions! Clean your headlights, signal lights, windshield, rear window and the lateral windows of the car, ensure the good functioning of windshield wipers and properly use the ventilation installation! We remind you that the use of winter tires is obligatory when traveling on roads covered in snow, ice, or glazed frost, and vehicles weighing over 3.5 tons must be equipped with anti-skid hardware. Auto drivers must avoid, as well as possible, to drive during the night or through long distances, given the reduced experience and the risk of causing road accidents," the IGPR adds.
