The Szigligeti Theatre in Oradea will host a new edition of the Infinite Dance Festival between May 13 - 19, offering audiences eight performances that span a wide range of styles.
"The event, unique in the region, is a dance and multi-art festival that brings together various forms of dance: classical and contemporary ballet, folk dance, contemporary dance, as well as other artistic genres featured through its side programs," the theatre said in a release.
As in previous editions, the festival program will also include flash mobs, dance evenings, workshops for amateurs and professionals, and concerts.
Special guests include internationally renowned professional companies such as Gyori Balett and the Duda Éva Company from Hungary.
Students from prestigious dance universities will also present their creations.
Throughout the event, the Nagyvárad Ensemble of the Szigligeti Theatre will showcase the choreographic productions from its repertoire.
The event will also feature the premiere of the ensemble's latest dance production of the season.
Organised every two years, the festival now reached its seventh edition, aiming to offer Oradea audiences a diverse theatrical experience through its stylistic variety.
The festival opens on May 13 at 19:00 in the Szigligeti Theatre's Grand Hall with the performance 'Madarak voltunk' ('Birds of the Sky'), directed by Tokés Csaba Zsolt and presented by the Nagyvárad Ensemble.
On May 14, at 17:00, the Transylvania Hall will host the show 'Suttogások és sikolyok' ('Cries and Whispers'), directed by Györfi Csaba and performed by the Nagyvárad Ensemble.
Later that evening, at 19:00 in the Grand Hall, the Hungarian Dance University of Budapest will present 'Nyílik a világ' ('The World Opens'), created by Fodorné Molnár Márta and Macher Szilárd.
On May 15, at 17:00, the Transylvania Hall will stage 'Boldogságkeresok' ('Happiness Hunters'), directed by Györfi Csaba and performed by the Nagyvárad Ensemble. That same day at 19:00, the Grand Hall will host 'Frida', directed by Duda Éva and performed by the Duda Éva Company from Budapest.
The show 'A varázsló halála' ('The Death of the Magician'), directed and choreographed by Makkai Árpád and performed by the University of Arts in Targu Mures is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, at 17:00 at the Transylvania Hall. Also on Saturday at 19:00, the Grand Hall will feature 'Anna Karenina', choreographed by Velekei László and performed by Gyori Balett from Gyor, Hungary.
On Tuesday, May 19 at 19:00, the Szigligeti Theatre's Grand Hall will host 'Hamupipoke' ('Cinderella'), choreographed by Emodi Attila and performed by the GG Tánc Eger Dance Company of Hungary.
Tickets are available at the theatre box office and online. Festival passes can be purchased exclusively at the box office for 90 or 100 RON.
