Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) has concluded this year's Global Money Week after exceeding 100,000 hours of financial education, delivering 111,953 hours over seven days and marking 10 years of its School of Money programme through a nationwide collective effort, the bank announced on Monday.

According to the cited source, the total number of hours was reached through a national experiment showing that financial education can reach anywhere when integrated into everyday life.

Through the "Se da edufin la toata lumea" ("Financial education for everyone") initiative, financial education moved beyond traditional courses and was naturally embedded over seven days into situations and places encountered in daily life, such as commuting, going to the cinema, shopping malls, preparing for flights, advertising breaks, online news or social media.

Bank representatives said that in each of these situations there are at least 60 seconds that can be used for short lessons about money.

BCR said the initiative aimed to demonstrate that financial education does not have to be complicated or difficult to access, and that reaching 100,000 hours is achievable when information is brought to people where they already are. It added that the strong public response showed that small steps matter and that, after 10 years of the School of Money, efforts will continue to expand financial education in schools, communities and everyday life.

Micro-lessons were delivered in metro stations, on the way to and from work, in shopping centres, in cinemas across 24 cities before film screenings, on television through public interest messages tailored to different life roles, as well as in the inboxes of more than 60 partner companies and in office buildings.

They were also present in partner organisation communities, including high schools and universities in 30 cities, as well as in 70 schools involved in LifeLab, reaching over 12,000 pupils and 350 teachers. In BCR branches nationwide, more than 1.2 million people interacted with the educational content, which was also available online at any time.

In parallel, the educational component was supported by 150 workshops and webinars for children, young people and adults, complementing the digital experience with direct interaction. More than 400 BCR employees also contributed to expanding the initiative in their communities.

Over the course of a week, financial education became part of Romanians' daily routines, regardless of city, context or time of day.

The campaign was based on the idea that financial education is not a difficult or abstract topic, but part of everyday decisions, from morning coffee to housing choices, with understanding built through small steps and accessible information delivered at the right moments.

In this context, the initiative exceeded the symbolic threshold of 100,000 hours, reaching a total of 111,953 hours and marking 10 years of the School of Money programme, representing a shift from financial education as a programme to financial education as a daily habit, the bank said.

BCR offers a full range of financial products and services through a network of 20 business centres and 18 mobile offices for companies, as well as 290 retail branches in most towns with more than 10,000 inhabitants, 72% of which operate cash services exclusively through equipment.
