European Commissioners Roxana Minzatu and Apostolos Tzitzikostas will each pay separate visits to Romania on March 30-31, 2026, the European Commission Representation in Bucharest informed on Sunday.
Roxana Minzatu's schedule for Monday includes meetings with the President of Romania, Nicusor Dan, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, and Deputy Prime Minister Marian Neacsu, as well as a dialogue with the joint labour committees of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, focusing social policies and the labour market. On the second day of the visit, Tuesday, the Executive Vice-President will meet the Minister of Education and Research, Mihai Dimian, and take part in several events.
The visit of the Executive Vice-President for social rights and skills, quality jobs and preparedness, Roxana Minzatu, is part of the ongoing dialogue between the European Commission and the Romanian authorities regarding European priorities and programmes, as well as opportunities for Romania in the economic, social and educational fields.
The European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, will discuss with the Romanian authorities connectivity projects, initiatives and strategies that foster economic cohesion and support supply chains, while also promoting sustainable transport, key infrastructure priorities and dual-use military mobility, thereby strengthening Romania's role in European connectivity.
On Monday, the Commissioner will hold high-level meetings with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, the Minister of Transport Ciprian Constantin Serban, and representatives of the parliamentary committees on transport and European affairs. The programme will also include a visit to a railway project. Discussions will focus on strengthening cooperation in transport, dual-use mobility, infrastructure development and European connectivity priorities, highlighting ongoing investments and the central role of EU funding in modernising transport networks. Apostolos Tzitzikostas will meet President Nicusor Dan on Tuesday.
