Arrears of the general consolidated budget rose by 4.06% in February 2026 compared with the previous month, reaching 734.8 million lei, up from 706.1 million lei, according to data published on the Ministry of Finance (MF) website and consulted by AGERPRES.
Arrears overdue by more than 90 days decreased by 3.85%, from 207.9 million lei to 199.9 million lei, while those overdue by more than 120 days increased by 10.3%, from 286.3 million lei in January 2026 to 315.8 million lei in February 2026. Arrears overdue by more than 360 days recorded a rise of 3.4%, from 211.9 million lei to 219.1 million lei.
According to the same source, as regards local budgets, arrears increased by 4.44%, from 644.3 million lei (in January 2026) to 672.9 million lei (in February 2026).
Arrears overdue by more than 90 days fell by 4.58%, to 168.9 million lei; those overdue by more than 120 days rose by 11.21%, to 292.6 million lei; and arrears exceeding 360 days increased by 3.47%, to 211.4 million lei.
Under the 'state budget and autonomous entities' category, the level of arrears remained unchanged compared with the previous month, at a total of 61.8 million lei, comprising 30.9 million lei (over 90 days), 23.2 million lei (over 120 days) and 7.7 million lei (over 360 days).
