The Presidential Administration will host on Tuesday a new edition of the "Romania in Light" project, which will focus on "Addictions in children and adolescents", Agerpres reports.

According to the Presidency, the event will take the form of a roundtable meeting bringing together addiction experts, doctors, representatives of public authorities and NGOs active in the field.

"Through this initiative, the Presidential Administration aims to identify long-term solutions and implement programs dedicated to preventing addictions among children and young people in Romania," the statement of the Presidential Administration notes.

The event is organised with the involvement of Mirabela Gradinaru, the life partner of President Nicusor Dan, in partnership with the Zi de Bine Association, the Health Ministry, the Ministry of Education and Research, and the Ministry of Economy, Digital Transformation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism.

"The topic of addiction is increasingly relevant in Romania and across Europe, as the phenomenon affects a growing number of children and adolescents and threatens the healthy development of the younger generation. In this context, early prevention becomes essential, as the most effective way to reduce risks associated with substance use, digital addictions and other behavioural disorders, through education, awareness and coordinated intervention," the release adds.

Doctors, teachers, addiction specialists, MPs from relevant committees and NGO representatives will take part in the discussions.
