The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued on Wednesday a weather advisory for strengthening winds and moderate rainfall across most regions, as well as snowfall and snow cover in mountainous areas at high altitudes, valid from Thursday morning until Saturday evening.
According to meteorologists, during the period 2 April, 06:00 - 4 April, 18:00, there will be temporary wind intensifications, especially on Thursday in the south and south-east of Romania and isolated elsewhere, while on Friday these will affect western areas.
From Friday night until Saturday evening, in the eastern regions the wind will generally blow at speeds of 40 - 50 km/h, while in the mountains gusts will reach 70 - 80 km/h.
The forecast indicates that, starting Thursday morning, there will be moderate rainfall across most of the country, in the form of showers. On Friday and Saturday, these will be locally accompanied by thunderstorms, with a risk of hail.
By the end of the period, water quantities of 20 - 25 l/sq m will accumulate, and isolated amounts of 50 - 70 l/sq m are also expected. In addition, in the Southern Carpathians, from Friday night into Saturday, and in the Eastern Carpathians at altitudes above 1,800 metres, there will be periods of snowfall and a snow layer will form, with average thickness of 10 - 20 cm.
