Any erosion of political stability has repercussions for Romania, a key concern for rating agencies, Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare said on Wednesday.

"All discussions that affect stability - not just actions, but discussions themselves - have an impact on us. Rating agencies raise this issue during every assessment mission. As you have seen, Japan Credit Rating Agency reaffirmed our rating and upgraded the outlook from negative to stable, which is a very positive development. However, all these analysts specifically ask about political stability. It is extremely important and has an impact, including on our financing costs," Nazare said at the Economist Romania Government Roundtable conference.

Asked by journalists about the inflation outlook and whether it could reach double digits, the finance minister said the ministry is in contact with the central bank but declined to speculate ahead of next week's announcement by the National Bank of Romania.
