Romania's Victor Cornea through to doubles quarter-finals at Tiriac Open (ATP)

Romanian tennis player Victor Cornea and Portugal's Nuno Borges qualified for the doubles quarter-finals at the Tiriac Open (ATP 250), a tournament with total prizes worth 612,620 euros, held at the "Simona Halep" National Tennis Centre in Bucharest, the only match played on Thursday due to rain.

Cornea and Nuno Borges won 6-3, 6-2 against juniors Stefan Haita/Rares Pieleanu after 59 minutes.

Cornea and his partner did not drop serve in the match, saving all three break points faced.

The Romanian-Portuguese pair secured a cheque worth 5,650 euros and 45 ATP doubles points, and they will face third seeds Yuki Bhambri (India)/Michael Venus (New Zealand) in the quarter-finals.
