The Romanian Postal Workers' Union (SLPR) is organising a protest action at the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitisation headquarters on Monday, from 10:00 to 12:00.
According to the trade unionists, the protest is part of a series of actions that will take place every day from October 9 to 13 at the same time.
The list of grievances includes the lack of a transparent, motivating and non-discriminatory salary system that has led to the unacceptable situation in the Romanian Post today, where about 17,000 employees, or 80% of the staff, are on the minimum wage, regardless of position, education, responsibilities, professional experience.
Also, SLPR underlines that there is a huge risk that, with the increase of the minimum wage on economy, from January 1st 2024, the Romanian Post will enter into insolvency proceedings or will dismiss several thousands of employees.
Trade unionists also complain about the lack of coherent development and sustainability policies of the Romanian National Bank, the lack of transparency and predictability in the management act, as well as the lack of social dialogue at the level of the Romanian Post.
