The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Sorin Grindeanu, currently on an official visit to Israel, declared on Wednesday that caring for people is the supreme form of love for God and faith is the true foundation of life.

"Peace, understanding and solidarity. They are the key elements that unite not only nations, but also build bridges between generations and between religious confessions. They are the symbols, experiences and wisdom that high clergy, priests and representatives of other faiths transmit and transpose daily: His Beatitude Theophilos III, Archimandrite Ioan Meiu, superior of the Romanian Settlements, and spiritual leaders of the Mosaic community. Faith is the true foundation of life, and caring for people is the supreme form of love for God. These are just a few of the thoughts with which I left the Holy Sepulcher and the Western Wall. Thoughts that made me feel all the more proud of how beautifully people speak about the Romanian community in Israel and, equally, about our Orthodox Church," Grindeanu wrote on Facebook.

He added that Romanians are respected in Jerusalem because they have known how to defend their faith and have always managed to build such bridges: within communities and between communities.

"Through tireless spirit, determination and courage, I wish that all Romanians will build, together, a better future, as they deserve," he said.
