Romania's national team has won two silver medals, two bronze medals and one honor mention at the 11th edition of the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA), which was held in Thailand, between 12 - 20 November.
According to a release of the Ministry of National Education (MEN), Radu Andrei (9th grade/ the "Nicolae Balcescu" College of Braila) and Robert - Gabriel Pascalau (the "Mircea cel Batran" National College of Constanta) have won the silver medals.
Andrei - Horatiu Eftimie (9th grade/ the International Theoretical Information Highschool of Bucharest) and Paul - Florin Rebenciuc (9th grade, the "Stefan cel Mare" National College of Suceava) won the bronze medals, while George - Pantelimon Prodan (9th grade/ the "Mircea cel Batran" National College of Constanta) was awarded the honor mention.
Romania's team was coordinated by PhD Associate Professor Cristian Pirghie (the "Stefan cel Mare" University of Suceava) and Professor Petru Craciun (specialized inspector with Suceava County School Inspectorate), while teacher Victor Paunescu (the "Octav Onicescu" National College of Bucharest) was the scientific observer.
The competition gathered 219 competitors from 46 countries. AGERPRES .
