The new US ambassador in Bucharest will take office in March, President Nicusor Dan said on Antena 3 on Thursday.
"At the beginning of March, the new US ambassador to Romania will arrive and this will boost the relationship we have and at a certain point, which is quite close, these economic projects will reach a level of maturity that will allow them to be realized," said the head of state.
Darryl Nirenberg was confirmed as US ambassador in Bucharest at the end of the year.
On November 19, at his hearing in the US Senate's Foreign Relations Committee, Darryl Nirenberg stated that the relationship with Romania has never been more important.
"Romania is a key NATO ally, strategically located on the Black Sea and bordering Ukraine. It offers great opportunities for American companies and has the potential to be a decisive factor in terms of energy resources. Our relationship with Romania has never been more important," he said.
