Hidroelectrica signed on Thursday the contract for the turnkey implementation of the "Hategului Land Photovoltaic Park" project, a new strategic step towards diversifying the production portfolio and consolidating the company's position on the renewable energy market, the company informed in a press release.

The contract, worth over 24.412 million lei excluding VAT, was awarded following an open tender procedure, to which four offers were submitted. Following their evaluation, the offer submitted by the association Electro-Alfa International SA (leader) and General ME.EL Electrica Ltd was declared the winner.

The project provides for the development of a photovoltaic park with an installed capacity of 8.9 MWp and an average production estimated at approximately 11 GWh/year.

According to company representatives, the investment will contribute to increasing production capacity from renewable sources, reducing carbon emissions and supporting national and European objectives regarding the energy transition.

"The signing of this contract marks a new important moment in our development strategy. The 'Hategului Land Photovoltaic Park' project confirms Hidroelectrica's commitment to investing in modern and efficient green energy production capacities, diversifying the company's energy mix. We focus on implementing sustainable projects that bring long-term value to shareholders, customers and local communities," said Bogdan Badea, CEO of Hidroelectrica, quoted in the press release.

The project will be implemented on a turnkey basis and will include design activities, equipment supply, work execution, testing, commissioning and technical assistance during the warranty period. The contract duration is 12 months, of which 2 months will be the design phase and 10 months will be the execution phase.

"Through this investment, Hidroelectrica consolidates its leading position in renewable energy production in Romania, continuing the strategy of developing new production capacities from renewable sources, complementary to its hydropower portfolio," the press release states.

Hidroelectrica is the largest producer of electricity from renewable sources in Romania and one of the most important players in the energy sector of South-Eastern Europe. With a portfolio of over 6.3 GW of installed capacity in hydropower plants, cumulated with the Crucea wind farm, the company contributes to national energy security and to achieving the decarbonization objectives established by EU policies.
