The robotics club students from 'Carol I' Primary School in Iasi won first place in the 'Team Poster' category at the First Lego League Asia Championship Open, Explore level, held in Macao, China.
This is the second consecutive year that the students from the 'Carol I' Primary School robotics club have won this championship, after also taking first place in 2024 in Hong Kong, competing against over 250 teams from around the world.
This year's FIRST Carol Generation team is made up of 3rd and 4th grade pupils: Maria Badilita Acozmi, Aria Evelin Cretu, Anastasia Hadarag, Tudor Alexandru Macovei, Cezar Constantin Sirghi and David Alexandru Tomegea.
The team's mentors are Victor Tcaciuc, a recent graduate of 'Grigore Moisil' Informatics High School; Ilinca Carausu, a member of last year's award-winning team in Hong Kong; and Claudia Carausu, headteacher of 'Carol I' Primary School.
"Congratulations to the FIRST Carol Generation team for this fantastic achievement, especially as they also won first place at last year's edition of the same international competition. These successes fully demonstrate the exceptional talent that defines them, as well as the hard work they put in - honouring themselves and their teachers first and foremost, but also the Iasi education system. My full appreciation also goes to the headteacher, for the dedication she shows both in leading the school and in supporting this wonderful group of ambitious and creative children. Sincere congratulations and best of luck in the future," said Mihai Chirica, Mayor of Iasi.
