A four-storey block of flats in the Favorit area of the Capital will be regenerated using a biological method, and a community innovation centre will be built inside the former Favorit restaurant, which will also be structurally reinforced, reconfigured and renovated, through a project with a total value of 6.2 million euros, of which 4.9 million euros represent non-repayable funding.

Representatives of Sector 6 City Hall wrote on Facebook on Tuesday that, of this total amount, the local authority will directly benefit from 2.3 million euros in non-repayable funding, in addition to co-financing of around 600,000 euros.

Natural materials will be used to insulate the block of flats (wool, hay), the building will have a green roof, photovoltaic panels, a rainwater retention tank and much more.

The Favorit+ urban regeneration project was selected last year by the European Union for funding under the European Urban Initiative programme. At that time, 110 projects were submitted and 20 were selected from 13 states.

Last year, the 'initiation phase' was completed, during which the groundwork was prepared, the block of flats was chosen, European partners for the exchange of experience were identified and the local authority has already received half of the funding.

On Tuesday, together with partners from all fields - national organisations in education, research and civil society - the best ideas for regenerating the four-storey building located at 1 Tincani Alley were set out on paper.

The ideas discussed on Tuesday will be turned into specifications. Subsequently, the local authority may launch tenders for design services and the execution of works. The project will be completed in spring 2029.
