Foreign Affairs Minister Oana Toiu discussed on Monday with Kaja Kallas, the Vice-President of the European Commission and High Representative for Foreign Policy of the European Union, in the context of negotiations regarding the end of the war in Ukraine and announced that Tuesday, at 14:00 EET, a virtual meeting of European Council leaders will be held.
"A virtual meeting of European Council leaders will be held tomorrow at 14:00 EET. I have just called Kaja Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission and High Representative for Foreign Policy of the European Union, to align efforts for peace, as well as to discuss the next steps at European level. For Romania, ensuring a long-lasting peace, and not just an indefinite pause in the war, as well as considering the implications for the Black Sea, are essential in this process. We support a strong, common voice of the Coalition of the Willing," the head of the Romanian diplomacy mentioned on her X page.
US President Donald Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will have a bilateral meeting on Monday at the White House, which will also be attended by US Vice President J.D. Vance, followed by an extended meeting with European leaders who support Ukraine and are visiting Washington, namely European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
