Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Melescanu participated on Monday in the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) that took place in Brussels, where he spoke about the relations between the European Union and Africa, informs a press release of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) sent to AGERPRES.
In the context, Minister Teodor Melescanu expressed his active support in developing the EU-Africa relations and underscored the importance of the future Summit in identifying some concrete projects, especially for the younger generation, which actually represents the main topic of the future high-level meeting.
He showed that an enhanced cooperation is needed in order to obtain progress in all tiers: peace and security, governance, investments and jobs, competency development, migration and mobility, respectively. The Minister presented the remarkable results of some of Romania's recent initiatives, namely the 11th edition of the training programme titled "Post-conflict reconstruction and stabilisation. Strengthening resilience", as well as the Conference of Francophone Women.
The Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister underscored the importance of the EU's unified approach in the field and the need to cooperate with NATO. The Minister showed that Romania deems the strengthening of the member and partner states' resilience to be a priority, pointing out that the states in the eastern vicinity and in the Western Balkans need special attention, MAE further mentions.
