The Ministry of Finance has prepared both the mechanism to reduce excise duties and the one for voluntary contributions, and the adoption of one of these will take place on Thursday or Friday, Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare announced on Wednesday.
"We have prepared all options. We have even prepared a gradual excise reduction mechanism for when international quotations and domestic prices rise. So we prepared this option. We have also prepared the option that was adopted in 2022, the voluntary contribution. I don't want to give a figure now, but it is about the mechanism. Both mechanisms, the excise reduction and the voluntary contribution are ready, discussions will continue today at the Government and we are prepared to submit one of the two mechanisms for adoption this week. That is, tomorrow or Friday," Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare said at "The Economist Romania Government Roundtable" regional conference.
