Finance Minister Nazare to attend World Bank, IMF Spring Meetings in Washington, April 14-20

Romania's Finance Minister, Alexandru Nazare, will take part in the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), held in Washington, DC, United States, between 14 and 20 April 2026.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Finance, the main objectives of the visit are to strengthen Romania's partnership with the United States, reinforce its macroeconomic position on international markets, and participate in the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the IMF.

On the sidelines of the meetings, the minister's agenda includes talks with representatives of the White House, the US Department of Commerce and the US Treasury, as well as with the leadership of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), the US federal agency financing strategic American investments in emerging markets, and the Export-Import Bank of the United States (US Exim Bank).

The delegation led by Alexandru Nazare will also hold bilateral meetings with representatives of the World Bank Group, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), as well as the IMF.

These discussions will focus on the status of ongoing project portfolios in Romania, financing opportunities and technical assistance, as well as strengthening partnerships in areas such as public investment, the green transition, infrastructure, digitalisation and private sector development.

The visit will also include a promotional roadshow in Washington, DC and New York, featuring meetings with international fixed-income investors and rating agencies. These discussions will present Romania's macroeconomic situation, fiscal consolidation measures and public debt management strategy, as part of maintaining a constant and transparent dialogue with the international investment community.
