The project regarding the capping of the commercial markup for wholesale trading activities and those of supplying electricity and natural gas to final consumers was a material error, which was later repaired, it does not represent a reference document and I ask everyone who has read it to ignore it, declared on Thursday, in a press conference, the Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan.
"It was an overzealousness of a colleague who messed up some normative acts. It was a material error, which was later repaired. I started an investigation within the ministry to see very clearly who and in what form uploaded an act that was not approved, was not signed to be subject to public transparency. It was just one of the dozens of working documents, drafts, in the works at the ministry level. What I want to say very explicitly is that it does not represent a reference document and I ask everyone who read it to ignore it. (...) I repeat, it was a material error that was rectified in a very short time. A disciplinary investigation was opened to see who made the mistake and for what reason. And I ask all those who consulted the document to ignore it, because it does not represent the official position of the ministry," explained Bogdan Ivan.
On Wednesday evening, a draft Ordinance was published on the website of the Ministry of Energy, according to which the commercial mark-up applied in the wholesale trading and supply of electricity and natural gas to final consumers was to be limited to 3% and 5%, respectively, for a period of 12 months. Shortly afterwards, the draft was withdrawn, the ministry stating that it was published as a result of a clerical error.
"The Ministry of Energy managed, over several months, an extensive process of analysis of several scenarios aimed at ensuring lower energy prices for all Romanians. These steps were based on constant consultations with all relevant actors in the energy market and the integration of the proposals received, within an internal technical process. The document temporarily posted on the website was published as a result of a material error. It was withdrawn as soon as the situation was identified, in order to avoid misinterpretations," explained the ministry representatives.
