Judge Alin Ene is the first member of the Supreme Council of Magistrates (CSM) to react after the Constitutional Court's ruling on the law regarding the special pensions of the magistrates, posting an ironic message on Facebook.

"Democracy is dead! Long live the Government! Einstein has vanquished: everything is relative. Even the Constitution. Today's ruling is not just about the magistrates' pensions. It is the first step in a journey of a thousand miles, because the rule of law does not disappear suddenly. It thins out little by little. And this always starts with the judiciary, like any thief who first takes out the watchdog. For the judicial system, this is a signal that it must quickly regroup in a setting where reference points become ... flexible. I am convinced that united, the justice system will find the necessary levers to mitigate the effects of this law. And the government still deserves a special mention: it is no small thing to push through a law that violates all constitutional and international guarantees and principles. Congratulations! If this was possible, we look forward with interest to the next measures. In line with Martin Niemöller's words, we will then see who will still be able or willing to oppose abuses. Welcome to the post-constitutional era!," Alin Ene wrote.

Ene has been known over time for his sharp and ironic messages aimed at critics of the Superior Council of Magistrates and is a supporter of the head of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, Lia Savonea.

The Constitutional Court of Romania on Wednesday rejected the High Court of Cassation and Justice's challenge to the Bolojan Government's new bill on the reform of the magistrates's pensions, ruling that the law is constitutional.
