The vaccination rate for the eligible population over 12 years of age is 47.5 percent, announced on Thursday the president of the the National COVID-19 Vaccination Coordination Committee (CNCAV), Valeriu Gheorghita.
"Since the start of the vaccination campaign until January 19, more than 8,037,000 have received at least one dose of vaccine. It translates in a vaccination rate of 49.81 percent of the resident adult population over the age of 18. (.. .) From the eligible population over 12 years - as of January 26 we will move to the population over age 5 -, the vaccination rate with at least one dose is 47.5 percent and the number of those we refer to as eligible means 16,900,000 people resident in Romania and the percentage of vaccinations in the total population of Romania of about 19.3 million inhabitants is 41.64 percent," the military doctor specified in a press conference.
According to him, the highest vaccination rate - 56% - is registered in the 50-59 years age group.
"If we look at the vaccination rate by age groups, the highest is in the age group ranging from 40 to 70 years old, included, where it stands at around 53 percent, with differences between these age groups, the highest being in the 50-59 age group, where the vaccination rate is 56 percent," said Valeriu Gheorghita.
He said 464,000 people between the ages of 12 and 19 were immunized against COVID-19 with at least the first dose.
"As for young people between the ages of 12 and 19, there are practically 464,000 pupils and first-year students vaccinated with at least one dose, which represents 16.7 percent in the 12-15 years age group and around 40 percent in the 16-19 years age group," said Valeriu Gheorghita.
