Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan declared on Wednesday, regarding the rotation of prime ministers, that, regardless of the person, the more political agreements are observed and the better the relations between the parties are, the better Romania's outlook is.
"Let's leave the forecasts to those who are specialized in this topic. I believe that, in this period and in the following period, the more political agreements are observed, regardless of the person of the prime minister, one or the other, the better the relations between the parties are, the greater the responsibility with which we exercise these political or governmental positions, the better Romania's outlook is. And each of us has a great responsibility for this situation", Ilie Bolojan told a press conference at Victoria Palace, when asked who he thinks will be prime minister next year.
On June 23, 2025, the leaders of PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR and the group of national minorities signed the political agreement of the governing coalition. This also includes the application of rotation regarding the position of prime minister.
Article 4 of the political agreement states: "The signatory political formations agree on the application of rotation regarding the position of prime minister. For the period June 2025 - April 2027, the candidate for the position of prime minister, supported by the coalition, will be designated by PNL. For the period April 2027 - December 2028, the candidate for the position of prime minister, supported by the coalition, will be designated by PSD".
