Six migrants from Lebanon, India and Afghanistan were caught on a field in the Arad County, in the last 24 hours, while attempting to cross the border into Hungary, most of them asylum seekers in Romania, Agerpres reports.
The foreigners were caught near the border towns of Nadlac and Varsand, the Arad Border Police reported on Tuesday.
Five of the migrants were caught in Varsand, 50 metres far from the border line. The foreigners were spotted by a surveillance crew, who intercepted them on their way to the neighbouring country.
"Because the persons did not justify their presence in the area, they were taken to the headquarters of the checkpoint. Following the investigations, it was established that the persons in question are citizens of India and Afghanistan, most of them asylum seekers in Romania," the source said.
A 31-year-old Libyan man was caught on the field in the Nadlac area.
In both cases, the border guards are conducting investigations.
