The Government approved on Thursday the signing by the National Registry Office for Classified Information (ORNISS) of a Security Assurance document required under the Maritime Multi-Purpose Corvette Programme.
According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, the Government approved a memorandum on the signing by the National Registry Office for Classified Information of a Security Assurance within the Maritime Multi-Purpose Corvette Programme (MMPC), in which the Ministry of National Defence is set to participate.
"Through this document, ORNISS, in its capacity as National Security Authority, guarantees that classified information generated within the programme and disseminated to the Ministry of National Defence will be properly protected, in accordance with the applicable standards and classification levels. The MMPC programme is managed by the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR) and brings together several European states interested in developing and operating modern naval platforms capable of carrying out a wide range of maritime missions. The signing of the Security Assurance document represents a standard procedure used in multinational defence programmes, enabling the exchange of classified information between participating states in situations where there is not yet a specific bilateral agreement on the protection of classified information," the Government said.
Romania's participation in this programme reflects its interest in strengthening European defence cooperation and developing the operational capabilities of the Romanian Naval Forces, the statement added.
