The Romanian students in Ukraine will benefit from scholarships, and their teachers from internships in universities of Romania, according to a decision adopted on Thursday by the gov't in its weekly siting.
The goal is to promote and protect the right of the Ukrainian citizens of Romanian ethnicity to study in their mother tongue, reads a release by the Romanian gov't, sent to AGERPRES.
The Ministry for Romanians Abroad (MRP) will grant in a first stage 1,000 scholarships worth RON 200/month to the Romanian ethnic students domiciled in Ukraine who have special school results and who study in tuition units with Romanian teaching or with the study of certain subjects in Romanian as their mother language, in Ukraine's pre-university education system.
Moreover, the MRP alongside the Education Ministry will grant internships to 300 educational staff with the Romanian schools in Ukraine, aiming to develop and improve Romanian language teaching competencies or the teaching competencies in Romanian.
The internships are organised by the "Babes-Bolyai" University of Cluj-Napoca, the "Stefan cel Mare" University of Suceava, the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iasi and the "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati.
