President Klaus Iohannis will welcome on Thursday at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace President of the Swiss Confederation Alain Berset, who is paying an official visit to Romania.
According to the Presidential Administration, within the talks also tackled will be the ways to develop the bilateral relations, aspects regarding the main topics featuring on the European agenda, including the Swiss financial contribution to the Cohesion Fund of the EU, as well as regional topics.
President Alain Berset's visit to Romania takes place in the context of boosting the bilateral dialogue, namely of Romania taking over the Presidency of the Council of the European union, in the first semester of 2019, according to the source. Thus, the discussions will also focus on the relation of Switzerland with the European Union," the Presidential Administration mentions.
President Klaus Iohannis will present the priorities of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU and will assure, on this occasion, the Swiss part that Romania will further endorse, including from this position, the promotion of an open and constructive dialogue, mutually advantageous, between the European Union and the Swiss Confederation in all the aspects of this relationship.
The visit of the Swiss official takes place at the invitation extended by President Klaus Iohannis.
