The main objective of the Romanian presidency of the Council of the EU should be to strengthen the international status and prestige of Romania as a member of the European Union, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila told a plenary session of Parliament on Wednesday.
"The main objective should be to strengthen Romania's international status and prestige as a member state of the European Union capable of fulfilling its responsibilities in pursuing the common European objectives. Romania's prestige will be influenced not only by what is achieved during its tenure, but also how the results are achieved. There is an opportunity to demonstrate political maturity, high professionalism in managing complex institutional challenges, as well as bargaining and building compromise skills in the European decision-making process," said Dancila.
