Senate Chairman Florin Citu, the national leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL), said on Tuesday evening that he expects Interior Minister Lucian Bode to give assurances that no investigation will be covered up and that "the law will be enforced," adding that the minister cannot be held responsible for what an employee of the Ministry of Interior does.
"The minister of the interior came up and reported after those incidents [the case of a girl who was fatally injured on the crosswalk by a police officer]. What I am expecting is the interior minister assuring us all that the investigation will in no way be covered up; that is what I am expecting from the interior minister. He cannot be held accountable for what an employee of the ministry does, but he has to assure us all that no investigation will be covered up. All has to be transparent to make sure that the law will be applied to everyone," Citu told Digi 24 private broadcaster.
