The play "Nimic nu e intamplator"/"Nothing is by Chance", written and directed by David Schwartz, will have its official premiere on September 21, at the Atelier Hall of the "I.L. Caragiale" National Theatre in the Capital City Bucharest.
According to a press release sent on Tuesday to AGERPRES, the first performances of the current season will take place on September 19 and 20.
"Personal and spiritual development services have become increasingly popular globally. They promise to solve all problems, from career and money to relationships, and are promoted as a universal panacea for the shortcomings of contemporary society. At the same time, they are increasingly controversial: some people claim that they fundamentally change their lives for the better, others consider them harmful or dangerous; for some they are pure science, for others mercantile speculation; some say they should be widespread and accessible to everyone, others argue that they should be regulated or even banned. Finally, the proliferation of these practices may be a symptom of the increasingly acute problems (...) facing the world today, rather than a cause or trigger," the show's presentation says.
According to it, six characters with different personalities and problems, but all in search of meaning, participate in a Family Constellations session. The show is an engaging story about more or less random encounters and reunions, borderline situations, clashes of ideas, contradictory states and feelings, in an intimate space, where the action takes place in the proximity of the spectators.
The actresses and actors who play in the show - Ada Gales, Iuliana Moise, Crina Semciuc, Istvan Taglas, Ionut Toader, Florentina Tilea - researched, together with the director, the methods and impact of spiritual development services, especially the Family Constellations method, in Bucharest. The research consisted of interviews, informal discussions, reviewing sociological and anthropological works on the subject, observation and direct participation. The show's script fictionalizes and develops situations encountered in the documentation process.
The show is the result of a documentary theatre project about personal development practices, organized under the auspices of the "Ion Sava" Centre for Research and Theatrical Creation.
Started in the spring of 2023, together with TNB actors, the project of director-playwright David Schwartz "Nothing is by Chance", had its preview at the end of last season.
