Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church (BOR) has released his Easter message, calling for peace, brotherly love and good deeds within families and across society, according to Agerpres.

"The Feast of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, or Holy Easter, is the greatest feast of the Church, because the Resurrection of Christ is the beginning or the pledge of the resurrection of all people as the final victory of life over death," the Patriarch said, recalling that the Orthodox Creed ends with the confession: "I await the resurrection of the dead and the life of the age to come!"

"The Resurrection of Christ is not the return to earthly human life, blended with suffering and the fear of death, but is the entry of man into another life, into eternal heavenly life. Therefore, on the night of Easter, the Orthodox Church sings: 'Today we celebrate the killing of death and the beginning of another eternal life.' The first words spoken by the Lord Jesus Christ on the morning of His Resurrection from the dead were addressed to the myrrh-bearing women: 'Rejoice, do not be afraid!', and on the evening of His Resurrection He addressed His disciples, saying: 'Peace be with you!'. Therefore, Holy Easter is the celebration of joy and peace, of forgiveness and communion in the family, in the community, in the people and in the entire world," the Patriarch said.

The BOR Primate calls for peace and understanding between peoples.

"The celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ calls us to show joy and peace, fraternal love and good deeds around us, in the family and in society, to help the poor and lonely, pray for the suffering, but also for the Romanians who live among foreigners, especially to pray for peace and understanding between peoples," the message of His Beatitude Daniel shows.

"Warm wishes of peace and joy, health and happiness, together with the Easter greeting 'Christ is Risen!, Truly He is Risen!'," the BOR Patriarch added.

Orthodox and Greek Catholic Christians celebrate this Sunday the Resurrection of the Lord - Easter, the most important feast of Christianity.

Last year, Easter fell on the same date for all Christian denominations - Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Greek Catholic, Evangelical and Reformed, and neo-Protestant. The next year when all Christians will again celebrate the Resurrection on the same day will be 2028, on April 16.
