More than 1,5k people have gathered on Sunday night in Victoriei Square, in front of the gov't seat, downtown Bucharest to protest against the amendments to the Laws of Justice.
The people chant "Justice, not Corruption", "PSD, the Red Plague" and "Resignation" and are having placards imprinted with "All for Justice".
Protests are being announced on Facebook, in Bucharest and other counties in the country, and also in Milan, Zurich, Birmingham and Paris. As many as 42 civic and nongovernmental organisations, alongside two trade union confederations, Cartel Alfa and BNS, have made an appeal and summoned the people to ask in the street the withdrawal of the amendments to the laws of justice, the rejection in the Parliament of the ordinance regarding the tax legislation's amendment, the resignation of the gov't and of the two heads of the Parliament's Chambers.
Among the signatories are the Romania 100 Platform, Corruption Kills, Romanian Centre for European Policies, Freedom House, as well as politicians.
"The PSD-ALDE (Social Democratic Party - Alliance of Liberals and Democrats, the alliance at rule, ed. n.) have sped up to the last phase to adopting the Laws of Justice: accelerated calendar in Parliament, huge mobilisation in the relevant committees, pushing of the parliamentary procedures. They talk about the parallel state. The truth is Romania is becoming a captured state," the signatories of the appeal say.
