The implementation of the "Healthy Meals" National Program continues according to the calendar, conditions and provisions established at the beginning of the current year, the Ministry of Education and Research announced on Thursday, which specified that it will initiate all legal steps necessary to carry out the program at least in the same number of educational institutions and with the same number of beneficiaries.
"For 2025, the budgets necessary to carry out the program are distributed to the administrative-territorial units in relation to the number of beneficiaries approved by government decision at the beginning of the year. If the planned purchases have not already been made for the entire calendar year, local authorities may initiate the necessary procedures for this purpose," the quoted source states.
The National Program "Healthy Meal" is addressed to preschoolers and students attending teaching activities, during the course period, according to the structure of the school year and consists of providing daily, free of charge, a food support consisting of a hot meal or, as the case may be, a food package, if a hot meal cannot be provided.
The National Program "Healthy Meal" aims to promote healthy eating habits among children and young people in schools in Romania, supporting their participation in education.
