Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodor Melescanu, says that so far there is no information that among the victims of the rail accident that occurred on Thursday morning in Italy would be also Romanian citizens.
"Unfortunately, there was a rail accident in Milan. At this hour, they continue with the extrication operations (...) The Members of the Consular Office in Milan went there and they got in touch with the local authorities (...) They are prepared to offer consular services and we are waiting to see if, after the extrication operations end, there are also Romanians among the victims. So far, yet, (...) we have no such information about Romanian citizens possibly being involved in this accident," Melescanu said in the beginning of the government meeting.
Moreover, the Consulate General of Romania in Milan is watching carefully the developments in the case of the rail accident produced on Thursday morning in this city, with no such requests for consular assistance received so far, MAE informed AGERPRES.
