Mandatory private pension plans had assets worth RON 201.6 billion at the end of December 2025, up 34% year-on-year, according to statistics with the Financial Oversight Authority (ASF).
As much as 94% of the investments of privately managed pension plans were made in Romanian assets, most of them being denominated in RON. A large part of the Romanian instruments is represented by government bonds or shares listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB).
The contributions collected in December 2025 were worth RON 1.88 billion, with the average contribution of RON 408.
At the end of December, government bonds made up the largest share of assets, at RON 131.05 billion and 65%. They are followed by stocks and shares, at RON 51.85 billion (25.7%), and corporate bonds, at RON 7.92 billion (3.9% of total assets).
As of December 2025, there were 8,458,638 contributors to mandatory private pension plans.
