ForMin Toiu to pay working visit to London Monday through Tuesday

Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana Toiu will pay a working visit to London on 9-10 February, in the context of Romania's efforts to strengthen political dialogue and bilateral cooperation with the United Kingdom.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit agenda includes meetings with her British counterpart Yvette Cooper, during which topics such as deepening diplomatic relations, developing economic cooperation, support for Ukraine as well as issues of regional and Euro-Atlantic security will be discussed.

Oana Toiu will also meet members of the Interparliamentary Group for Romania, with discussions set to focus on prospects for strengthening Romanian-British parliamentary cooperation. .

The agenda also includes a meeting with representatives of the Romanian community in London, which will provide an opportunity to discuss the priorities and concerns of Romanian citizens living in the United Kingdom.

At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will pay a visit the University of Oxford, where the Romanian language lectureship operates, funded by the Romanian Government, a project integrated within the Faculty of Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics of the prestigious academic institution.

At Trinity College, Oxford, the Romanian official will participate in the debate 'In conversation with the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs,' dedicated to foreign policy in the context of current crises, with a focus on Romania's contribution to strengthening security, democratic resilience and regional stability as well as on the role of the Romanian academic diaspora in promoting expertise and international dialogue.

The visit programme also includes a lecture delivered by Minister Oana Toiu at the British think tank Chatham House, where she will present Romania's position on topical issues such as European security, hybrid threats and the strengthening of regional and transatlantic resilience. In addition, the Romanian dignitary will speak at the conference 'London: Capital, Infrastructure, and Energy Security,' hosted by the Romanian Embassy in London.

'The visit to London reaffirms Romania's firm commitment to dialogue, cooperation and solid partnerships, in an international context marked by security challenges and significant geopolitical transformations. At the same time, the substantial component of engagement with the Romanian community aligns with the sustained efforts undertaken in recent months in relation to Romanian communities abroad,' the quoted source said.
