Justice Minister Raluca Pruna suggested on Friday night that she might reappoint Laura Codruta Kovesi as chief prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA).
"The position is vacated in mid-May, and here I want to remind the legal provisions. So, the law stipulates the possibility of reappointing the incumbent, and if the law allows it, I think it's absolutely logical to infer that someone who had measurable, statistical results shown by the institution's annual report, so in such situations we shouldn't be hypocrites and play procedure. I will not do that and I am waiting for the DNA's report, but all the data so far make me think there's one simple thing I should do: apply the law, and reappoint the chief prosecutor at the DNA," Pruna told B1.
