President Klaus Iohannis on Thursday sent a message for the 24th edition of the 'National Ranking of Companies' Gala hosted by the Romexpo centre of exhibition in Bucharest in which he says that it is a great injustice that business people's efforts are thwarted by uninspired tax policies, arguing that such practices must end.
"It is obvious that, in an unstable business environment, entrepreneurship has to battle with economic uncertainty inherent in business, as well as with the unpredictability of government policies. To avoid such a climate, preparation and good faith are essential in political decision-makers. I think it is a great injustice that your efforts and business plans are thwarted by uninspired tax policies that are insufficiently substantiated or even lacking in economic fundamentals. I believe that these practices must end," says Iohannis in his message delivered by presidential advisor Cosmin Marinescu.
He points out that the business environment can only thrive through responsible, coherent economic policies that will solve the present problems without generating much more serious ones in the long run.
He argues that it is the duty of policy makers to provide solutions for the shortcomings of the business environment.
Iohannis reiterates that Romania is currently experiencing a period of economic growth in the European Union, which has reached 6.1 percent according to the latest economic forecasts, but he adds that this growth is based almost entirely on consumption, while investment is regressing.
He says that economic performance must be sustained by a consistent development of infrastructure, which must become the zero priority of any governance programme. The head of the state also says that another challenge in the current economic context is the problem of human resources, adding that the Romanian administration must take decisive steps towards modernity and the technology era by the use of promptness and transparency.
