Firefighters, gendarmes and police officers have intervened over the last 24 hours to clear after floods in 67 settlements 27 counties and Bucharest City.
"Nationwide, more than 22,000 employees of the Interior Ministry (MAI) bodies - fire brigades, gendarmes and police officers are in the operational service with more than 9,000 technical means. Special attention will be attached to the rivers in the Oltet, Cerna, Olt and Lotru river basins - the counties of Valcea, Gorj and Arges - where code red hydrological warnings have been issued, valid until 20:00hrs," according to a MAI press statement released on Tuesday.
Over the past 24 hours, gendarmes and firefighters have acted in support of local authorities to heighten dykes. Six temporary dams were completed in Sibiu County, and currently one is being built for Bacau County.
At the same time, water was pumped out of 82 houses, 220 courtyards, 91 gardens, 133 basements, 38 streets, and two household annexes, and 147 wells were cleared of mud.
Roads were cleaned of washed away sediments and rocks.
"Currently, DN7D national road is still closed in the area of Titesti (Valcea County), and so is county road DJ 106E - between Dobra and Jina (Alba County). On roads DN 64 - Valcea County, DJ 106M - Alba County and DJ 676G - Valcea County, traffic is currently hard to maintain; 6 persons are being evacuated preventively - two from Sacel in Sibiu County and four from Jibou in Salaj County. No isolated persons or medical emergencies unable to be performed due to bad weather have been reported," according to MAI.
According to distributors' report, there are disruptions in electricity supply in three areas in the counties of Arges and Bihor, affecting a total of 215 users; two intervention teams are working to restore power.
