The Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) wants political stability and for the current governing coalition formula to continue, including with Ilie Bolojan as prime minister, leader of the party's deputies Csoma Botond said on Wednesday.

"After the adoption of the budget, I believed that things would calm down a little within the coalition. Unfortunately, that did not happen. At that time, considering that the compromise had been reached, that one billion requested by PSD [the Social Democratic Party] for pensioners with pensions below 3,000 lei, I thought we would somehow enter a calmer, more normal track. That did not happen, I do not know what will happen. UDMR's position is clear - we want political stability, we do not need a political crisis as well. (...) Of course it is possible (even without Ilie Bolojan as prime minister - ed. note), I do not believe a coalition stands on a single person, but I do not think it would be desirable for the prime minister to be changed now. We had a coalition agreement that also provides for a rotation in 2027, I think it should be kept. (...) I do not think any changes to ministries would be necessary. I do not know what would justify a change of ministries. I think it should remain in the same formula," Csoma Botond said at the Palace of Parliament.

He added that there had been "certain" breaches of the coalition protocol, with attacks in the press, "which should not have happened."

"I believe we have respected that protocol. We have always tried to convince the larger parties in the coalition to be a bit more rational, calmer, to try to work for this country, because all these conflicts lead to the growth of a certain party," he said.
