In an International Roma Day message released on Wednesday, Chairman of Romania's Senate Mircea Abrudean highlights the importance of inclusion and ironing out inequalities in a society.
"A nation is strong when everyone has the chance to build their own path. On International Roma Day, we reaffirm the importance of inclusion and ironing out inequalities. The reforms Romania's accession to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) aim at equitable access to education, public services and real opportunities for all. Together we can build a society in which no one is left behind," Abrudean wrote in a social media post.
International Roma Day is celebrated annually by the world community on April 8 to acknowledge the culture, history and rights of millions of Roma around the world, and also to draw attention to the discrimination faced by Romany communities in Europe and elsewhere.
